19th Century French Masquerade Ring
DATE: Victorian, c.1880
A superb late 19th Century French masquerade ring, with a beautiful hand-painted miniature portrait of a masked lady - framed with ten rose cut diamonds. The elegant flared shoulders draw the eye to the head, which sits on a 14k rose gold band. This ring dates later than most, to c.1880, and can be seen as a revival of the 18th Century style - when masquerade parties were a cornerstone of high society.
