Description

DATE: Mid-Century, c.1950

A cool oversized statement ring dating from the 1950's. The main event being a buddha's face carved from a single piece of coral. Excellent details show each strand of hair and facial features. It's sat above, what seems to look like a collar to me, with three panels- onyx, diamonds and mother of pearl. These create a gorgeous contrast from the coral, and the pearl panel a gorgeous pearlescent. It's crafted in 14k gold with a scroll open worked band. It fits a 6.75 finger and can be worn for meditation and wisdom.

Siddhartha Gautama, also known as the Buddha was a religious teacher who lived in South Asia over 2,500 years ago and founded Buddhism. The name Buddha means "one who is awakened" or "the enlightened one." Many of the beliefs and practices of Buddhism revolve around the concept of suffering and its causes. Buddha’s teachings are known as “dharma and were taught that wisdom, kindness, patience, generosity and compassion were important virtues. Specifically, all Buddhists live by five moral precepts, which prohibit: Killing living things, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, lying and using drugs or alcohol.
