DATE: Art Deco, 1929

A gold medal presented to the owner of a pigeon that took one of the 9 top places in a race, on the front is an enamelled portrait of the bird. The winner would have won an oil painting of the bird, done by Anrdew Beer who was active between 1914 and 1948, in addition to the medal. It's usual to see on in gold, more often they were commissioned in silver or gilt metal, and this one has details of the race on the back: "LBHS 1929 S. Jukes Nom. Cup".
