18th Century Posy Ring "Not the Value but my Love"
DATE: Georgian. c1750.
Poesy (posey) Rings were popular during the 15th through the 17th centuries in both England and France as lovers' gifts. The quotations were often from contemporary courtship stories and usually inscribed on the inner surface of the ring; they were given to show regard or as a gift. This beautiful ring dates to the mid 1700s and is a size 7.75, it reads “not the value but my love”. A beautiful sentiment, and a good size.

No marks present - tests as 18ct gold minimum (most likely a little higher)
