DATE: Georgian, c.1780
This glorious French poissarde earrings date to the late 18th Century, c.1780. They are set with old cut citrine stones, and feature beautifully fine goldwork – with coiled rope and sun motifs. The little hoops on the tops were designed to clip on to your wig (!), holding it firmly in place, and have the added benefit of keeping the earrings the right way up when worn. This pair is modelled in 18k gold, and remain in remarkably good condition for such delicate and rare beauties.
