17th Century Diamond Bow Ring
DATE: 17th Century, c.1680
A stunning 17th Century (!!) Portuguese diamond bow ring, one of the nicest I've seen. It's a great size, more dainty than most, with excellent detailing to the head and a black enamelled band with scrolled and foliate decoration. The back of the head is fluted, typical for the period, and is also finished in black enamel. Set with seven domed rose cut diamonds (foil backed), this rare beauty dates to c.1680 - it has survived the years remarkably well, and developed a beautiful antique patina.
