DATE: Victorian, c. 1860
A beautiful antique diamond set pocket watch with enamelled violet wild pansy's to the front case and lapel pin. The reverse has a white face with red numerals (still works) and opens up to reveal a compartment inside. It's crafted in 15k yellow gold and dates from the Victorian period, circa 1860.
Victorian jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers", whereby each flower or plant represented some romantic or emotional sentiment. In this case, pansy for thoughts.
