DATE: Edwardian, c.1913/1914

A fantastic, collectable antique Invicta quarter repeater pocket watch. Inscribed to the inner case "Ricordo Della Tripolitania E Del Governatore 1913-1914", in memory of the Governor of Tripolitania 1913-1914). It' crafted in 18k gold and remains in great condition. Comes complete with original fitted box. A quarter repeater, will at the press of a button, strike once for the hours and and a set of double strikes for each quarter of the hour that has past. 

From 1912 to 1927, the territory of Libya was known as Italian North Africa. From 1927 to 1934, the territory was split into two colonies, Italian Cyrenaica and Italian Tripolitania, run by Italian governors. Tripolitania (Tripoli), is located in todays Libya. In 1911 the Italian government bowed to the internal pressures and demanded that the Ottoman Empire transfer Libya from Ottoman to Italian control. This demand was rejected and the Italians invaded Libya in October 1911.
